Rally on the Common
A change of plans as some friends from the VSOC told me they were at the Rally on
the Common. Now I have heard good things about this rally and despite my dislike
of Berkshire I headed off.
My fears were not alayed as I got rather lost, and its here I shall draw a veil over
the return journey.
On arriving at the site I found a nice parking space, and having paid my entry which
all goes to charity I went to find my friends, who couldn’t have have been farther
apart on the fields.
Although this in essence a scooter rally there were a few bikes, lots of campers
and some classic cars all here to relax to the mod style vibe. It also unfortunately
clashed with a massive rally not far away, which thankfully it wont next year (18-20
June)
The whole event reminded me of some of the earlier bike rallies I used to go on,
with just a couple of stalls and people just enjoying chatting in morning sun. All
seronaded by an old school vinyl DJ
Eventually I tracked friends down, and we spent a pleasant few hours chatting away.
With them telling me how good the bands and sound were day before,
There was a small ride out to a local venue, then a scooter show, some of the paint
and engraving was ace, I did like the sidecar one.
After the show, the back field became an arena for silly games, which were actively
taken part in.
Sadly I had to leave before evening entertainment. I can see why this is such a popular
rally
